A brewery surrounded by hops
“We want people to leave the stress of everyday life behind, take their time, and enjoy the cozy atmosphere of the Mühlviertel region,” says Margit Ehrensperger, describing the philosophy of her business. And the atmosphere could hardly be more inviting for following this philosophy. From the outdoor dining area, you can practically watch the hops grow, as it borders directly on the surrounding fields. The dining room is cozy and rustic, and the menu offers regional delicacies with a down-to-earth character.
Our own beer from our own hops
Margit and Gerhard have been running the Bierbuschenschank since 2006. “What works with cider and wine must also work with beer,” thought the farmers and innkeepers at the time. In keeping with the tradition of a Buschenschank, Eder Bräu focuses on homemade products. Once a week, one of their own beers is brewed, naturally with hops grown on the farm. The names of the beers are also derived from the hop varieties: the light Märzen “Golding,” the malty and semi-dark “Hersbrucker,” and the very special “Malling,” a light wheat beer with a special hop note. In addition, there are seasonal varieties such as bock beer, fasting beer, and harvest beer.
Dining with a view of the brewery
The microbrewery is directly adjacent to the dining room, allowing guests to view the brewing kettle and lauter tun. Another unique feature is that the storage tanks are located just a few meters away from the tap. Unlike other establishments, the beer is not transferred to kegs, but is freshly tapped directly from the tanks.
When it comes to the menu, Margit and Gerhard also focus on regional dishes typical of the Mühlviertel region. Home-cured and smoked bacon are served with the beer brewer's platter or the hop picker's snack. The hop picker's meal is also available as a buffet or as a hearty beer roast with homemade pretzel dumplings, if ordered in advance. The outdoor dining area (100 seats), the Hopfenstube (70 seats), and the Tabakstüberl (30 seats) are not only popular with day trippers, but also for birthday, company, or Christmas parties.
