Austrian Mountain Herbs Cooperative

Hirschbach im Mühlkreis, Oberösterreich, Österreich

We are the Austrian Mountain Herb Cooperative - an association of over 70 committed organic farmers from the Mühlviertel region. Our members cultivate the fields with a lot of manual labor, knowledge and patience in the rhythm of nature. Over 50 different herbs grow at sunny altitudes of up to 900m - from classics such as peppermint to the special granite lavender, which unfolds its full power on our barren granite soil.

We produce high-quality organic herbs that are dried directly by our farmers. In the next step, these herbs are blended and processed into tea, spices, syrup or fine herbal salts. Our products reflect the diversity of our landscape and the togetherness of the farming community. Whether as a fragrant herbal tea, a spicy mixture for sandwiches or a gift box for special occasions - each product tells a story of life with and in nature and comes straight from the field to your table.

We are an organic farm

We invite you to experience organic with all your senses at our farm. Take time to look, smell, taste and discover - here you can experience organic.
A special symbol of this is our Bio.Genuss.Bankerl made of Mühlviertel granite and wood: a place to pause, enjoy and arrive.
We are part of the Bio.Genuss Mühlviertel-Danube project, which links organic businesses even more closely with restaurants and accommodation providers - for tangible enjoyment and genuine origin.

The Austrian Mountain Herbs Cooperative

A clear corporate strategy, high quality standards and a strong regional focus combined with a pronounced environmental awareness: This is the credo of the Österreichische Bergkräutergenossenschaft. The preservation of biological value is a top priority. We pay particular attention to acting as resource-conserving as possible in all operational areas.
Our "Kräuterei" store, warehouse and production facilities are located in Hirschbach. Our processing, warehouse and logistics are located in Bad Leonfelden.

The products

Organic herbs and organic spices of the highest quality - this is what the Austrian Mountain Herbs Cooperative has stood for since 1986. In line with the motto "Good quality needs no flavor enhancers", we guarantee that all products are and remain natural - no artificial or natural flavorings are added.

Our mountain herbs come from the Bohemian Forest massif north of the Danube. Two rivers, the Große and Kleine Mühl, flowing slowly in many branches towards the Danube, give the landscape its name: "Mühlviertel".

Our herbs grow in small fields, far away from industries and highways. The mountainous landscape at 500 - 900 m above sea level - embedded in the Mühlviertel bioregion - with its granite soils allows the plants to thrive optimally. The field cultivation, which is often only possible by hand, requires many hours of work. This is why our mountain herbs are characterized by high quality. All our farms are subject to constant monitoring by the Austrian organic inspection bodies.

Naturally, our focus is on growing herbs in our own rural areas and in Austrian regions. However, due to the growth in customers and the demand for our organic herbs and of course to meet customer requirements, some items are also purchased abroad (e.g. vanilla, cinnamon,...).
However, all herbs are subject to our strict organic controls and requirements.
