Kreuzstein, Schalenstein, Steinsitzungen

Hidden deep in the green Brunnwald forest, the Kreuzstein and Schalenstein are wonderful, mythical places of power to discover. The hiking trails to these special stones are rarely travelled, but are all the more beautiful for it.

Location: Brunnwald - between Bad Leonfelden and Schönau, accessible via a detour from the Moorwald adventure trail or from the Brunnwald circuit
Highlights: "7 Hauptmänner" stone seats, cross stone, Schalenstein

The Schalenstein is said to have had a special significance for the Celts.
There are also a number of myths surrounding the cross stone: one of them says that there was a tragic death of a shepherd boy here.
The "7 captains": According to legend, these are tombstones from the time of the Peasants' War.
