Hermit stone with phallic shape.

In the area north of Grein, stones with seats are exclusively called hermit stones.

Shells in stones are generally divided into naturally formed and man-made ones: naturally formed by chemical weathering, dripping water, water mills etc. and artificially rubbed out, chiselled out or burnt.

The often strikingly phallic shape of certain stones was obviously understood as a special divine revelation: here man was supposed to present his wishes and make sacrifices. It was probably a barter transaction. Fertility probably always played a decisive role. There is often a cleft next to the bowl, which - as can be seen in some examples - was "fertilised" with a piece of stone, as well as a shelter for the sacrificial guardian. Ideally, a so-called tree sensation, such as a "witch's broom", a tree stump overgrown at the top, etc. - phenomena that are likely to be caused by particularly strong earth radiation - could also be observed.

The Phallus stone is located at the entrance to the village, opposite the fire station.

This stone is located near the S7 hiking trail. However, it can also be reached by car after a short hike.
