Hammerwerk Felix Buchsbaum

Metal has been worked in the Brantner smithy in Mistelberg near Tragwein since time immemorial. Originally set up as a home smithy for the farm, the workshop has survived the centuries like an onlooker. Masters have come and gone and with them times of prosperity and hardship through peace and war. The fates it has seen and the stories it has to tell seem innumerable - the old forge. You only need to pause for a moment in the midst of the hammers and anvils and close your eyes and you can feel them, the ghosts of the past. They are all still there, the masters, journeymen and apprentices who created the tools to make the hard ground around them arable.

Felix Buchsbaum now joins this line of masters spanning more than four centuries as the current bearer of the knowledge accumulated over generations in the art of creating useful and beautiful things from raw metal.

This art is both the master's passion and his destiny. Through perfected craftsmanship, Felix Buchsbaum imposes "his" form on every thing he creates.

A form that has its origins in the raw beauty of the region.
