The Kühstein near Oberpeilstein was probably a pagan sacrificial site in pre-Christian times (also Kürstein, küren = select, Kiriche = meeting place).
Enjoy the fantastic view from the plateau!
The Kühstein 710m
The Kühstein, located between Oberpeilstein and Meisingeröd, has become a beautiful destination. There are also several hiking trails here. The slightly grim face on the southeast side does not keep the climbers from practicing in the rocks. Nevertheless, this rock castle has preserved its old historic grandeur. Our ancestors from the prehistoric times used the large bowl on the summit to sacrifice. They also came to the cadres of their bards. Five pines adorn the summit level, they are about 140 years old. To the northeast one has a good view into the small Mühltal, also the sunrise one can enjoy. Two ramparts testify to an early castle around 1300 and around 1600 a wooden chapel stood at the foot of the rock. Energetically, the Kühstein is connected to the nearby Bründlstein.
Trail can be walked on, depending on snow conditions.
