Weihnachtsmuseum Harrachstal Franziska Winder

Weitersfelden, Oberösterreich, Österreich
information: Akutmeldung/Information

If you are looking for peace and quiet in the run-up to Christmas and want to take yourself back to the best time of your childhood, then I would like to invite you to the Mühlviertler Alm. In a cosy atmosphere, special rarities from the Christmas season of earlier times are shown.

What to Expect:
In addition to countless charming items related to Christmas celebrations of days gone by, you’ll see an extensive collection of Christmas tree ornaments (1870–1960) made from a wide variety of materials, such as glass, cardboard, wire, paper, cotton wool, and more.

Another highlight is the traditions of the pre-Christmas season (Advent, making chocolate, burning incense, etc.). You’ll also learn how glass Christmas tree ornaments were made in the past.

Porcelain dolls from Thuringia (circa 1900), antique paper nativity scenes, and Christmas tree stands are sure to enchant you. Also on display is a beautiful “Fatschenkinderl,” all Christmas stamps from Austria, the first Christmas postmark from Steyr-Christkindl (1950), interesting Krampus, St. Nicholas, Christmas, and New Year’s cards (circa 1900), vintage Christmas wrapping paper, a field post Christmas tree, and much more...

The entrance halls are decorated with select antiques, and the museum’s outdoor area is lovingly adorned.

The 2026/27 special exhibition features a high-quality porcelain exhibition titled “MEISSEN, GOLDSCHEIDER, AUGARTEN…” Meissen is Europe’s oldest porcelain manufactory, producing artisanal works of exceptional quality since 1710.
