After the closure of the last local supplier in 2017 and the traditional "Mayrwirt" inn in 2019, the village center was facing profound change. This loss gave rise to a new vision by committed citizens: a community-based village center that combines supply, meeting and culture.
The Stefansplatzerl was recreated as a multifunctional place in the form of a citizens' cooperative. Today, it combines a café and pub, local amenities, event spaces and cultural activities under one roof. Concerts, readings, festivals and regional events make it a lively center of village life.
The Stefansplatzerl is an example of sustainable village center revitalization in rural areas. It shows how vacancies can be turned into new life - supported by a sense of community, commitment and regional identity.
