The tranquil market town of Liebenau is located in the far northeast of the Mühlviertel region. Proud farmhouses sit enthroned on the hills, some of which are more than 1,000 meters above sea level. In between are fields, meadows, and forests. Some might say there isn't much here. “We have everything we need here,” agree Roswitha and Franz Rockenschaub. Everything for a break – 1,000 meters above everyday life.
In the early 1990s, Franz took over his parents' business – a village inn with a bakery. Together with his wife Roswitha, he expanded the inn into a hotel and a flagship business in the Lower Mühlviertel region. Today, there are 23 rooms, 46 beds, and a spacious wellness area, all at a 4-star level. And most importantly: many satisfied guests.
Authentic passion
The secret to Roswitha and Franz's success sounds very simple: “We bring our own passions to the business.” For Franz, that usually means being active. Whether it's guided motorcycle tours, bike rides, or cross-country skiing with his guests in winter. Roswitha takes a more leisurely approach, enjoying hiking, archery, or snowshoeing in the cold season. What they both have in common is their enthusiasm for these activities. And that makes the experiences for guests at the Hotel Rockenschaub particularly authentic.
Taste the Mühlviertel
Roswitha and Franz share not only an enthusiasm for outdoor activities in the beautiful natural surroundings of the Mühlviertel, but also a love for the region and the products it produces. This is clearly evident in culinary terms: great importance is attached to the origin of the food, most of which comes from the surrounding area: “When you know where it comes from, it tastes twice as good,” Franz is certain.
Hop enjoyment
Typical of the Mühlviertel region, beer also plays an important role: On the one hand, there is an extensive beer menu featuring beers from all over the Mühlviertel region. On the other hand, there are also very special treatments on offer in the wellness area: for example, the “Mühlviertel hop bath” in a wooden bathtub or the hop relaxation massage with hop oil.
Hosts with heart and soul
“It's just a great feeling to give our guests a wonderful vacation,” say the hosts. The fact that they can bring their own passions to bear has advantages for everyone: in their free time, Roswitha and Franz also enjoy exploring places that they might be able to show their guests later. The basic idea: “We want to bring the Mühlviertel to life for you.”
