Haslach church tower
Selvages, yarn remnants, fiber fluff, pieces of fabric, old clothes, felt remnants, ends of ropes, hoses, belts and much more! What a treasure trove of special materials, eye-catching colors, stimulating shapes and tactile surfaces! What is simply garbage for many can inspire others!
The exhibition "Twist. Art made from garbage!" is showing free, experimental works on the eight floors of the Haslach church tower that make use of various textile waste materials to formulate independent modes of expression and artistic statements. Whether quilts made from old clothes, tapestries made from discarded cuddly toys, clothing objects made from shredded fabrics, oversized braids, woven fabrics or felt objects - there are no limits to the imagination! In addition to works by invited artists, the exhibition is brought to life above all by the contributions of students from the University of Art and Design Linz and other educational institutions, who open up a young, fresh perspective on the topic and reveal new potentials and meanings for resources that often seem useless.
