Since its foundation, the Mühlviertler Alm Association has pursued the goal of holistic, networked and sustainable regional development. The "Almbüro" has been based in Unterweißenbach from the outset and manages a wide range of regional projects and processes from there.

Funding programmes play a special role in regional development. Since joining the EU in 1995, the region has also been a recognised Leader Region and has been implementing this programme with great success ever since. However, the Mühlviertler Alm region does not only focus on the Leader funding programme - many other EU programmes (e.g. Interreg) as well as federal and state funding are also used by the Almbüro team for projects. Good co-operation is also maintained with the Regional Management Upper Austria - Mühlviertel office, as well as all other Leader regions in the Mühlviertel.
