Fasting according to Dr. Buchinger involves completely abstaining from solid food for a certain period of time, thereby activating the body's self-healing powers. In addition to sufficient fluid intake, exercise is also an important component for the success of a fasting cure - and what could be better than daily walks in the fresh air, relaxing yoga sessions or picturesque rounds of golf in the natural surroundings of the Mühlviertel.
During Buchinger fasting, the body switches from external to internal nutrition. Without external food intake, the body first draws on short-term carbohydrate reserves before breaking down energy deposits of fat and protein. In the process, stored metabolic residues and toxins are released from the connective tissue and blood vessels and excreted. Surprisingly, physical performance is maintained and often even increases.
