Beer is not only a drink, it is an expression of home and connects people and regions. The three-country region Mu?hlviertel-Lower Bavaria-Southern Bohemia is seen as a global heartland and combines expert skill, conviviality and tradition with innovation and local connection.
The natural conditions alone tell their own story: the pure water that comes from the granite foundations, and is therefore particularly soft. The hops, with its long tradition of cultivation in the Mühlviertel, grows directly in front of the door, so to speak. The character of the region thus flows directly into its beer. The development of an accordingly large selection of breweries is therefore almost a foregone conclusion.
The Braucommune in Freistadt has built its own demonstration brewery. Since May 2014, the Freistadt Beer Academy has offered brewery days for groups, guided tours including tasting, trips through the world of beer and multiple course menus with beer matching. The Mühlviertel Fair presents new events such as the Mühlviertel Beer Festival (Mühlviertler Wiesn). The town council and tourism association support the development of quality in regional and leisure and tourism industry. In the Lower Bavarian brewery Aldersbach, a demonstration brewery and other offers provide a contemporary insight into the rich tradition of Bavarian beer culture. The brewery and town of Aldersbach will also be the location in 2016 of the "Beer in Bavaria" state exhibition.
