The eye-catching rock formations are the reason for the special attraction of the Naturpark’s landscape. Boulders, balancing rocks and rocky meadows are lined with dry meadows, shrubs and trees. They are like island in the cultural landscape characterised by rural life. Some of these particularities were designated as natural monuments. The most impressive one is the “Schwammerling”, a real balancing rock (trademark of the Naturpark Mühlviertel). The dominant rock, granite, also shapes the architecture of the farms in an incomparable way. Different hiking paths lead through the unique natural landscape. Whether you are on horseback or on a bicycle, the Naturpark is worth exploring either way. Experience exciting hikes with our trained Naturpark guides (12 participants and up).
