Wirtshauskultur - the taste of the Mühlviertel

The Mühlviertel Wirtshauskultur (innkeeper's culture) revives culinary traditions and presents Dalken and other Mühlviertel treats, freshly prepared. At the centre of the shared image are authentic regional and contemporary food and drink. The member businesses are established in the region and form an association to a lived and experienced quality partnership. High-quality products from the region define the cuisine. Recipes and specialities that have been passed down are interpreted for the modern kitchen.

Where beer culture is alive

Beer. What do you associate with this drink? A cool glass in a shady beer garden? Memories of convivial evenings with good friends? For those from Freistadt, the hops juice is much more, it is a way of life. It is not for nothing that the town is the last remaining brewery community of Europe. And a fortress of uncompromising beer culture, the like of which can only be seen and experienced here.

The three region corner of Mu?hlviertel-Lower Bavaria – South Bohemia has a reputation as a global beer fortress. The project BeerWorldRegion opens up a new perspective on the topic of beer. Most – the country sour drink of the Upper Austrians

In addition to beer, Most is a popular drink. This is absolutely essential for a refreshment stop at the Most tavern. Most is fermented apple or pear juice and is the national drink of the Upper Austrians, who are therefore known by the honorary title of “Most heads”. In Upper Austria, Most is known as the honorary “national acid”. In the autumn the freshly pressed juice, the sweet Most (non-alcoholic) is drunk as a particular speciality. The meadow orchards where the autumn you can smell the ripe fruit from a long way off. In the Mostmuseum Trosselsdorf (community of Neumarkt) the owners proudly show their family exhibition pieces on the topic of Most production and invite you to try a nice glass. In the exhibition Most plant of Pankrazhofer in Tragwein, Most and juices of the highest quality are produced. The Most sommelier will be pleased to advise you during the tasting.
