Mühlviertel, the beer quarter

That is not surprising - considering that the Mühlviertel is the largest hops growing region of Austria. The second important raw material, water, comes perfectly pure from the natural springs of the Mühlviertel granite.

You can find beer without limits from Lower Bavaria via the Mühlviertel right across to southern Bohemia in the BeerWorldRegion. The centre of this region is represented by the medieval brewing town of Freistadt with the brewery community as the main enterprise.

The water flows from the ancient stone directly into the brewing containers. For beer-brewing, the principle does particularly apply, "the better the water, the better the beer!" While enjoying the Mühlviertel beers, you will taste and experience the typical aroma of the Mühlviertel hops. Art & culture also enjoy high esteem in the brewing community in Freistadt. With the glass relief wall created by Prof. Arik Brauer in the brew-house and the brewery well in the brewery yard, the brewing community owns some unique works of art.
