Use of Facebook plugins

On this website, plugins of the social network – operated by Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA (“Facebook”) and recognisable by the Facebook logo (white “f” on a blue square or symbol with “thumbs up”) or marked with “Facebook social plugin” – also visible at http://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins/. If you access pages of our Internet presence that have such plugins and if your browser is configured accordingly, a connection is established with the Facebook servers and the plugin appears on the Internet site via a notification to your browser. By doing so, information is sent to the Facebook servers about which of our webpages you have visited. If you are logged onto Facebook as a member, Facebook attributes this information to your personal Facebook user account. Upon using the plugin functions (e.g. by clicking on the “Like” button or entering a comment), this information is attributed to your Facebook account.

We have no influence on the amount of data that Facebook collects with the help of this this plugin. As far as we are informed, Facebook received the information that you have visited the corresponding page of our Internet presence by means of embedding plugins. By pressing the “Like” button or entering a comment, the corresponding information is sent by your browser directly to Facebook and stored there. If you are not a member of Facebook, it is still possible that Facebook finds out and saves your IP address. More information about the collection and use of data by Facebook as well as your rights in this regard and ways to protect your privacy can be found in the data protection information of Facebook at www.facebook.com/policy.php.

If you are a member of Facebook and want to prevent the collection and attribution of your data saved by Facebook, you have to log off of Facebook before visiting our Internet presence; it is not sufficent to simply close the page. A further possibility is blocking Facebook social plugins with add-ons for your browser, e.g. using the “Facebook Blocker” at http://webgraph.com/resources/facebookblocker/.
